How Mem·Sum SMS opt-in works

Mem·Sum sends account verification messages, account notifications, and member-requested pings only to authenticated members who expressly opt in for a specific sum.

The consent flow

  1. An authenticated member opens the Notifications section for one of their sums.
  2. They enter their own mobile number.
  3. They must check an initially unchecked consent box beside the full SMS disclosure before the Text me a code button is enabled.
  4. Mem·Sum texts a one-time six-digit code to confirm control of the number.
  5. Notifications are enabled only after the member enters the correct code.

Consent disclosure shown at signup

By checking this box and selecting Text me a code, you agree to receive recurring Mem·Sum account notifications and member-requested pings for this sum at the number entered. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help or STOP to cancel. Consent is optional and is not a condition of purchase.

Member control and data use

Members can reply STOP at any time or turn notifications off from the dashboard. Replying START resumes messages, and HELP returns support information. Mem·Sum does not import phone lists, buy contact data, or send cold outreach. SMS opt-in data and consent are not sold or shared with third parties. Twilio processes the phone number and message text only to deliver the requested messages.
